Yay! It's the weekend! Let's celebrate with another lightbulb block project. This block is featured in the quilt "A Lightbulb Moment" in the new "Best of Moda Bake Shop" book now available at your local quilt shop (or online at Martingale or Amazon). I'm sharing different projects using the lightbulb block throughout the summer, so be sure to pick up your copy of the book so you can sew along with me on all these extra bonus projects!
This week, the project is "A Lightbulb Moment Wallhanging".
This is really a quick and easy project and features a faced binding to get that jumbo rick rack edging. The faced binding also creates a rod pocket for hanging. To help make it lay flat, I used a yard stick cut to length and then hung on the wall with double stick foam tape.
To make the applique easier, I already reversed the text so all you have to do is trace it onto your paper-backed fusible.
I quilted it on my domestic sewing machine in a cross hatch using the angle of the lightbulb to create the diamond pattern.
Of course, you could also use this pattern as a small table topper.
Last week, I shared how to make a table runner using my lightbulb block HERE.
Hope you enjoy these bonus patterns! Please tag me @thistlethicketstudio if you make any of my lightbulb projects and share photos on Facebook or Instagram!
Happy Quilting!
